Senator Ken Yager takes Oath of Office as 114th General Assembly Convenes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 17, 2025

(NASHVILLE) – State Senator Ken Yager, R-Kingston, officially began his fifth term in the Tennessee Senate on Tuesday as he took the Oath of Office during the opening session of the 114th General Assembly. The ceremony took place in the Senate Chamber in Nashville, where other newly elected and reelected senators were also sworn in to their new terms. Many of Yager’s close friends were in attendance to show their support.

“I am beyond grateful that the people of District 12 have sent me back to Nashville for another term,” said Yager. “Serving as your Senator has truly been the honor of a lifetime.  I look forward to continuing to work closely with my colleagues and Governor Lee to promote our shared Tennessee values and advance issues important to our district."

Sen. Yager was re-elected in November to serve another four-year term. His distinguished career in public service spans over forty years.  Prior to being elected to the Tennessee State Senate, Yager served as County Executive of Roane County for over 20 years. After serving in the Senate for a decade, he was elected Republican Caucus Chairman.  In this role, Yager provides leadership and resources to further conservative values in the Senate.

A longtime resident of East Tennessee, Sen. Yager lives in Kingston with his wife. They are proud parents of two adult children.
